Biotech versus Organic

The most important thing for anyone to do is eat their veggies. Unfortunately the health food craze has brought in savvy marketers who have convinced a large portion of our population that the only way to get healthy foods is to buy “organic”.

The truth is that there is no evidence that Organic is actually healthier, or more nutritious.

So say the good folks at the International Food Information Council in their funny video, “What’s For Lunch?“

Internet Usage Caps

Comcast and Time Warner are implementing usage caps for their Internet customers. Fine.

They say they are going to limit usage to 250 Gigabytes. Fine.

This is better than having the providers pay extra in some kind of Web 2.0 tax.

Of course, nobody said there wouldn’t be competition coming along to force them to open up again. That’s how we go to the unlimited Internet to begin with.

Yellowcake is NOT WMD

Conservative blogger “BossDodger” writes this post “550 Tons of Uranium from Iraq“. What he fails to metion is that the yellowcake was not being used to make WMD. And that Iraq did not have ties to terrorists to whom they could sell the yellow cake.

Of course, it is possible that Saddam could have done this. But then again, there are a lot of things people could do; but they don’t.

You don’t go to war over the possiblity of something happening.

Is God Really Great?

I was reading this piece on Time Magazine about a female suicide bomber who killed herself at a checkpoint last year in Iraq.

The Time piece goes on to say that she didn’t do it for religious reasons, she did it to complete the mission her brother had undertaken to blow up the checkpoint several months before.

I have to agree with fellow blogger, JayzeeBird. Part of the problem here is that they carry out the attacks. But the other problem is that they just have such low regard for human life. Link to Jayzee’s post: http://jayzeebird.wordpress.com/2008/06/23/the-stupid-woman-did-it/

From reading the article, I have to say I don’t understand what really motivated this woman or her brother. One thing is for certain, though, if our troops weren’t there, then all these people would still be alive.
